Applied Materials Parking Structure & Esplanade; Sunnyvale, CA
The landscape architecture team delivered a comprehensive design to support the campus masterplan. Through numerous collaborative meetings with the city, key stakeholders, and the client, the team developed a cohesive site design that enhances campus identity, supports pedestrian connectivity, and activates adjacent uses. A central design feature is the esplanade, which includes a formal tree canopy, decorative hardscape, and integrated site furnishings to create a welcoming public realm that strengthens the connection to surrounding tenants. The design also incorporates a pocket park, providing space for respite, social interaction, and campus activation. Langan's scope of work also included wayfinding coordination, site lighting, screen walls and gates to blend functionality with aesthetics. Photo Credit: Barry Schwartz Photography

This 338-unit, Class A multifamily community spans five residential buildings across 16 acres. Langan partnered with the developer and architect from concept through construction, designing a robust amenity program with custom pergolas, a resort-style pool, a bocce court, a dog park, fire pits, and outdoor kitchens. Strict city tree preservation requirements shaped the design approach. Following an arborist's evaluation of approximately 430 trees - many of which were damaged by a severe winter storm - the team worked closely with the city to refine the site layout. The final plan preserved approximately 60 trees, implementing targeted grading strategies and retaining walls to balance site constraints with environmental stewardship. Photo Credit: Metroplex360

This reimagined, wedge-shaped landmark now stands as a LEED Gold-Certified, dynamic West Coast facility supporting teams and customers alike. The site's landscape architecture brings the vision to life through flexible outdoor gathering zones for events and more intimate spaces designed for everyday meals, conversations, and moments of pause. A commitment to sustainability shaped every decision, including drought-tolerant plant palettes, water-smart irrigation, thoughtful stormwater strategies, and the reuse of inert materials, resulting in a landscape that is both environmentally responsible and enduring. City of Hope Kitchen Repair; Duarte, CA
As part of City of Hope's initiative to enhance its cafeteria and kitchen facilities, this project reimagines an underutilized service area into a welcoming outdoor environment that supports staff well-being and operational efficiency. A custom metal screen wall provides an elegant visual buffer while seamlessly integrating lighting to enhance safety and ambiance in the evening. The planting design reinforces the contemporary character of space. These features transform the area into a thoughtfully designed outdoor room, offering employees a comfortable place to gather and recharge, while maintaining the efficiency and performance of the facility's essential infrastructure.
