Andrew Wickham, PLA, ASLA, is a leading voice in advancing landscape architecture's role in climate action, policy, and public understanding. Over nearly two decades, he has distinguished himself as a strategist, communicator, and advocate who has helped reshape how the profession responds to the climate and biodiversity crisis. Wickham is exceptional for translating complex environmental challenges into clear, actionable guidance for practitioners and policymakers. As Advocacy Lead and principal author of Landscape Architecture 2040: Climate and Biodiversity Action Plan, he developed a roadmap that sets measurable goals and practical strategies for the profession to meet global climate targets. The plan has quickly gained national and international traction, guiding firms, chapters, and individuals toward more climate-positive design. His leadership within ASLA has been both sustained and influential. As co-chair of the Climate and Biodiversity Action Committee's Advocacy subcommittee, he has strengthened the organization's national messaging and expanded its network to include every ASLA chapter and partners across North America. His policy work has contributed to meaningful outcomes, from advancing federal legislation like the Living Shorelines Act to shaping state policies on urban forestry, wildfire resilience, and nature-based solutions. Wickham is also a gifted educator and communicator. Through dozens of presentations, widely used resources like the ASLA Decarbonization Guide, and innovative public campaigns such as "Life Grows Here" and "Park-In-A-Box," he has broadened awareness of landscape architecture and empowered professionals and communities alike. By connecting practice, policy, and storytelling, Andrew Wickham has elevated the profession's voice and equipped it to lead in addressing the most urgent environmental challenges of our time.
