Alaska State Parks is seeking a full-time landscape architect to work in Anchorage under the division of Parks & Outdoor Recreation.


What You Will Be Doing
According to the job listing, the successful applicant will work in a team environment responsible for developing and delivering capital projects to meet all applicable codes, standards, and local, state, and federal laws and with particular attention to scope, schedule, and budget. The employee will perform site planning work that incorporates input from clients, stakeholders, and the public as appropriate to meet project objectives. Meet with clients (park superintendents, land managers, etc.); participate in citizen advisory board meetings; perform data collection work onsite; and coordinate with permitting/regulatory agencies in support of developing concept and final site plans. Conduct inspections of construction sites as needed and support the project engineer to help ensure project objectives are met.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
• Effective Communicator: Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, to convey ideas and concepts clearly and succinctly.
• Organized: Organize project goals, information, and schedules to develop a smooth workflow for complete project development and on-schedule delivery.
• Detail-Oriented: Focused on details to ensure sound landscape architectural solutions for project development.
• Problem-Solver: Ability to apply basic landscape architectural principles to develop cost-effective and practical solutions to support the division's capital needs.
• Interpersonal Skills: Develop positive working relationships with peers, clients/customers, agencies, contractors, and the public to ensure the success of projects.

At the time of application, the applicant must attach a cover letter. If selected for an interview, applicants must provide a resume with three references, an educational transcript showing the completion of a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture of a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture, and a valid drivers license.
