The design philosophy Neri employs when working with zoos, revolves around animal satisfaction as well as visitor experience.

Landscape architect Jim Neri is celebrating 30 years of working with wildlife specialists at the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Neri worked for 12 years at KTUA Planning and Landscape Architecture, where he worked heavily with Zoo accounts. After starting his own firm in 1997, the San Diego Zoo continued to work with him as a client. Neri is especially proud of the progress he has made in giving the animals at the San Diego Zoo larger and more comfortable habitats, while allowing visitors an immersive viewing experience. He said, "It's very intriguing. The team members are all specialists, dedicated pros working together to find a balance and make the space look and feel like a habitat, not an enclosure."
