The GCSAA, a golf course management organization, has announced J.D. Dockstader as chief operating officer.

J.D. Dockstader, chief business development officer for the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), is now also chief operating officer.

In his combined role, Dockstader will oversee all business development and operating functions for the association. He came to GCSAA in 2014 after spending seven years as director of commercial facilities for Mesa, Ariz.

"We recognize that business development has to be aligned with everything we do operationally. With his additional responsibilities, J.D. gives us a direct point of contact to ensure everything we do fits our business model going forward," said Rhett Evans, GCSAA chief executive officer.

Dockstader has more than 18 years of experience in strategic business development, including tenures at Sprint; the UCCU Events Center at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah; and the Grand America Hotel, a 5-Diamond hotel in Salt Lake City.

In addition to naming Dockstader as COO, Eileen Bangalan was promoted to senior director, business strategy. In her new role, Bangalan will evaluate strategic objectives and assist department leaders in identifying and executing key initiatives. Bangalan joined GCSAA in 2009.
