IA hosts Washington, D.C. Fly-In
On March 3-4, approximately 30 irrigation professionals representing all facets of the irrigation industry descended on Washington, D.C., to advocate on behalf of the irrigation industry during the Irrigation Association's 2020 Washington, D.C. Fly-In. IA members met with more than 50 congressional offices, advocating for legislation affecting labor, ag water use, WaterSense and other issues. IA also partnered with the National Ground Water Association and the Water Quality Association to host the Water Resources Congressional Summit in conjunction with the fly-in.

IA announces award winners
In July, the Irrigation Association announced the recipients of its annual awards. These awards honor those who have made significant contributions to the irrigation industry, and each recipient recognized this year is a true changemaker who has made unique and meaningful accomplishments toward furthering the industry and promoting efficient irrigation.

Smart Irrigation Month
The Irrigation Association celebrated Smart Irrigation Month throughout July. Smart Irrigation Month serves as the showcase month for the irrigation industry and the public to recognize and promote the benefits associated with smart and efficient irrigation. This year's theme for the month focused on the people behind smart irrigation, celebrating the professionals who make our industry great. The celebration kicked off on July 7 with Technology Tuesday. IA staff and those in the industry were encouraged to wear blue on July 7 in support of Smart Irrigation Month.

IA provides COVID-19 resources
The COVID-19 pandemic and resulting measures created a tremendous strain on the economy and the irrigation industry. As a result, IA refocused its advocacy and operational efforts toward supporting member companies by creating a new COVID-19 resources webpage. This webpage provided valuable links and information related to IA's advocacy efforts during the health crisis, federal resources for businesses and updates from industry-related associations. The association continues to update and monitor this page to provide the most up-to-date information and guidance. www.irrigation.org
