Marcus Duck, an advisor and instructor of Michigan State University's horticulture department, was the recipient of the 2019 Excellence in Education Award.
Carl Kah Jr. of North Palm Beach, Florida, founder and CEO of irrigation company K-Rain was named the recipient of the 2019 Board of Directors Award.
Monty Teeter, founder of Teeter Irrigation of Ulysses, Kansas, was honored with the 2019 Innovator Award.
The head of the research and development department of Valley Irrigation, Jake LaRue of Omaha, Nebraska, received the 2019 Industry Achievement Award.

This year, the Irrigation Association merged with the Irrigation Foundation to strengthen their commitment to the irrigation industry and will continue the work the foundation started to increase awareness of irrigation careers and education resources to provide the industry with skilled individuals. During Smart Irrigation Month in July, the IA encouraged green industry professionals to create a short video, 60 seconds or less, about why smart irrigation is important to them. The first-ever Smart Water Application Technologies (SWAT) awards aimed at recognizing water providers for efforts to conserve water through educational programs that promote efficient outdoor water usage were presented at the 2019 WaterSmart Innovations Conference and Exposition on October 2 in Las Vegas. Canada's Region of Peel and Regional Municipality of York received the Outstanding Industry Partnership Award. Fort Collins Utilities of Fort Collins, Colo., was the recipient of IA's Outstanding Public Engagement Award. The 2019 Irrigation Show and Education Week took place December 2-6 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Nevada. Thirty-three students and two educators received education and travel awards to attend the show as winners for the 2019 E3 program.
