International Code Council Calls for Committees
Applications Due by Wednesday, January 31

The ICC has 41 committees with hundreds of members and participatory companies located all around the country.

The International Code Council (ICC) is looking for volunteers to serve on Standards Consensus Committees that will play a role in the future of landscape irrigation and high-wind construction standards.

Misty Guard, vice president of the ICC, commented that the ICC is "a U.S.-based, member-focused organization that develops model codes and standards used in all 50 states and in many countries to ensure safe, sustainable, affordable, and resilient structures."

Volunteer applications for the three following committees are due by Wednesday, January 31.

The Landscape Irrigation Emission Devices Standard Consensus Committee reviews ICC Standard 802-2014, which applies to sprinklers, bubblers, drip emitters and other water emitters intended for use within turf and landscape irrigation systems.

The Consensus Committee Residential Construction in High Wind Regions reviews ICC Standard 600-2014, which establishes the minimum requirements to safeguard the public health, safety and general welfare through design, construction and installation requirements for buildings and other structures sited in high-wind regions.

The Consensus Committee on Storm Shelters reviews ICC/NSSA Standard 500-2014, which establishes the minimum requirements to safeguard the public health, safety and general welfare through design, construction and installation requirements for storm shelters.

It is noted that committee members are not anticipated to travel. A majority of the work will be done over conference calls and email correspondence.

"If travel is required, ICC Governmental Member Representatives are authorized to travel at ICC's expense when participating at standards development committee meetings."
