Illinois S.B. 3897 Signed

Board Extended Through January 2032

Governor Pritzker of Illinois has signed S.B. 3897 into law, extending the Landscape Architecture Registration Act through January 1, 2032. Along with home inspectors, interior designers, and real estate appraisers, Landscape Architects in the state are seeing their professional license continue to be managed by their respective boards.

Illinois has long been a champion for licensure. In 2021, Governor Pritzker signed a title act laying out the parameters for who could call themselves a Landscape Architect, and the state adopted The Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB) Uniform Standard barely a year later in fall 2022 - just a few months after the policy was officially established by CLARB members.
