IDA, a nonprofit organization fighting to preserve the night sky, has announced a new executive director, J. Scott Feierabend.

The International Dark-Sky Association has announced their new executive director, J. Scott Feierabend, who has more 30 years experience serving the nonprofit environmental community.

"We're thrilled that we successfully recruited Scott to this critical position," said Jim Dougherty IDA Board President. "Scott brings the perfect combination of talents and the experience necessary to take IDA to the next level. He's a creative, entrepreneurial, and results-driven senior executive who is deeply passionate about protecting the night sky."

Scott most recently served as the Executive Director of Audubon Canyon Ranch, a nonprofit conservation education organization dedicated to protecting lands in northern California through land preservation, public education and conservation science. During his four and a half years at ACR, Scott created long-term financial health and stability for the organization and successfully negotiated the transfer of more than 3,000 acres of wild lands, more than doubling the nonprofit's Preserve system.

"IDA is indeed fortunate to have Scott at its helm," said John Petersen, who succeeded Scott as ACR's third Executive Director. "His energy, commitment to collaboration, and fun-loving spirit are real treasures for the organization."
