The Green Industry Expo (GIE) is not only about exhibits and networking, but also educational sessions. This year GIE includes a tract on irrigation. GIE's sponsors-Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA), Professional Lawn Care Association of America (PLCAA), and Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS)-develop their own Green Industry Conference (GIC) structured around the exhibit hours. Unique to the partnership is an agreement to welcome conference delegates from one GIC to cross over and attend any educational sessions another may offer. There will be more than 60 educational topics to choose from. "ALCA, PLCAA and PGMS have worked together for years to avoid duplication and encourage diversity in the educational line up. However, 2003 represents the first year they have jointly cooperated to present a new tract," noted Ken Taylor, GIE president. "We are very excited about this technical tract," said Debra Holder executive vice president of ALCA. "More than 40 percent of convention attendees are from companies offering irrigation services. Having an expanded irrigation tract will offer a more compelling reason for contractors to attend and bring their supervisors." Topics in the irrigation tract include: * Master planning irrigation systems * Water conservation scheduling principles * Integrated water management * Four steps to better profit form irrigation systems. The 2003 GIE will be held Nov. 5-8 at the Cervantes Convention Center at America's Center, St. Louis, Missouri.
