The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America received a donation from Aquatrols in honor of late founder and GCSAA member Robert Moore. Aquatrols continued its support of the Robert A. Moore Endowment Fund with a $10,000 donation in honor of its late founder to the Environmental Institute for Golf, the philanthropic organization of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.

Moore, who was a strong advocate for GCSAA until his passing in 2010, founded Aquatrols in 1955. He was a GCSAA member for more than 50 years. The endowment in his name funds research aimed at optimizing the growing environment for golf course turf, with specific goals for increasing the effectiveness of applied water, fertilizers, and pesticides, thereby reducing total requirements.

In 2015, the endowment is helping fund the work of Joseph Young, Ph.D., and Theophilus Udeigwe, Ph.D., at Texas Tech University, who are studying incorporating cultivation practices and products to reduce salinity parameters from poor quality irrigation water on golf course fairways.

"Robert Moore was a visionary, so it is only fitting that his legacy continues to fund research that will shape the future of the game," said Rhett Evans, GCSAA chief executive officer. "We thank Aquatrols for their continued support of the EIFG's mission."

Moore's daughters, Tracy Jarman and Demie Moore, and son Andy Moore, made the donation during the 2015 Golf Industry Show in San Antonio.
