Baseball field fences and the backstop were also improved, and an existing basketball court was transformed into pickleball courts, following a survey showing the demand for courts is growing in Shawnee.

An innovative National Fitness Campaign court is another new feature of the park, designed to promote health and wellness for all ages and abilities. The trail and restroom will be improved for better accessibility, and a new shelter is being constructed to commemorate the historic Garrett family home that once stood on the site.
