Florida Gulf Coast University has been launched toward planning for its expansion and creating iconic spaces that will enhance quality of life on campus and entice students to live and learn on Florida's beautiful Gulf Coast. In concert with Studio Plus Architecture, our work expanded master planning efforts to include a celebrated waterfront entertainment district called The Boardwalk, a revitalized central hub of campus life called The Great Lawn, a fully renovated campus entry boasting a 75' tower anchored by a lush corridor of native plantings, and most recently an expansion of the primary campus spine connecting to a new academic building. Each project required a design focus to create a memorable space that linked the natural environment with academics and life.

This gated enclave of 1,121 detached villas and single-family homes brings a touch of the Mediterranean to Southwest Florida with its regional-inspired architecture, lush landscaping, serene lakes, and fabulous resort-style amenities. What Ron Waldrop, P.E., began as a small civil engineering firm serving Southwestern Florida has grown into a diverse, multidisciplinary firm of over 80 engineers, planners, landscape architects, 3-D specialists, designers and technicians. We provide a full range of services that include master planned residential communities, golf course and destination resort communities, community parks, campus designs for universities, mixed-use, commercial and industrial developments. Our master planning projects extend over 30,000 acres of land and have been as elegant as a small park. Our landscape architecture team, led by Ryan Binkowski, PLA, ASLA, continues to grow and attract top talent allowing us to tackle the most complex projects with unique creativity. Among our five offices in SW and Central Florida are three principals and seven licensed landscape architects. Our design software includes Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, 3DsMax, V-Ray, Lumion, Excel, After Effects and SketchUp.

Editor's Note: With the ASLA annual meeting and EXPO in Miami canceled this year due to safety concerns amid the COVID-19 health pandemic, LASN still wanted to highlight the landscape architectural work of firms from the southeast region.
