Richard Burck has long stood apart. In 1981 he was awarded the Rome Prize in Landscape Architecture and named a finalist in the Vietnam Veterans Memorial competition. He continues his pursuit of strong formal, social, and sustainable contributions. His design brings public attention to the abilities of landscape architects to shape the civic environment. In Boston, he organized a symposium that initiated that city's subsequent street planting plan and was pivotal in driving forward the Innovation District located on the South Boston waterfront.
