Projects such as the Milwaukee Riverwalk in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the Old Mill District in Bend, Oregon, and Marina Village in Alameda, California, have been recognized with national awards and publications and have become models for landscape architects, urban planners, and public officials in the U.S. and internationally. He has been a leader in the movement to create livable alternatives to sprawl and environmental deprivation. An original member of the Congress for the New Urbanism, Ken co-chaired CNU?EUR??,,????'???s Environmental Task Force from 1994 to 1998. Ken has addressed the U.S. Mayor?EUR??,,????'???s Institute on City Design and has become a featured speaker at annual conferences such as the New Partners for Smart Growth and the Ahwahnee Conferences on Water & Livability. Recently, Ken exported his expertise to China, where he is consulting with local government and developers in Guangzhou on ways to introduce livability to megacities that will attract 200 million new residents within a decade.
