Ecosa Institute, an educational institution in Prescott, Ariz., was founded in 1996 to educate designers to integrate human aspirations with nature's systems. Fueled by the belief that education should be free, Ecosa Institute is offering its Ecological Design Certificate program for free. They are undertaking a comprehensive fundraising campaign, including gofundme and corporate underwriters, to fund the free tuition program. The certificate program is a four-month class that meets five days a week, six hours a day. Enrollment is limited to 14 students per semester. The fall semester begins August 28, 2017, with applications due June 1, 2017. College credit is available for participating in the certificate program. Students receive hands-on experience through projects completed during the semester as well as several field trips "integrated into the learning experience to provide a basis for discussion and to place sustainable design into a broader context," according to Ecosa's website. The only requirement for enrollment is a commitment to the program – professionals and beginners with little design experience alike are invited to apply.
