Construction Job Openings Surge

Job Openings Increased to 410,000 in October

While housing demand remains high, construction job openings hit a new high.

Construction job openings increased to 410,000 unfilled positions in October which was the highest jump in the history of the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey data according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics that dates back to the late 2000s.

The job opening rate in the industry surged to 5.4 percent in October with 410,000 open positions open. Last year, there were 253,000 openings.

According to the National Association for Home Builders (NAHB), the construction job openings rate is likely to see more demand as residential and non-residential construction becomes more and more desirable. Meanwhile, the housing market continues to stay underbuilt while requiring additional labor, lots, and building materials in order to keep up with demand.
