The Fast Company's 2022 World Changing Ideas Awards were recently announced and named Climate.Park.Change honorable mention in the Climate Change category.

The awards honor clean technology, corporate initiatives, new city designs, and creative works that support positive innovation, tackles social inequality, climate change, and public health.

 

Climate.Park.Change is a pilot toolkit that was created by Sasaki in partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). The toolkit complies data on climate change's affects on park and recreation spaces. It was crafted using research and interviews with park and recreation professionals. Shortly after it was created, three park and recreation agencies used it to inform the design of existing parks facing specific climate challenges.

Our park and recreation professionals are innovators and champions in addressing our most pressing environmental challenges and it is our mission to support them with resources like this toolkit. The Climate.Park.Change toolkit allows park and recreation professionals to tackle massive issues, like climate change, that they may not have the capacity to address with their own resources," said Kristine Stratton, NRPA Chief Executive Officer.

The 2022 awards include entries from around the world, from Switzerland to Hong Kong. The Fast Company's Summer 2022 issue will showcase some of the most inventive companies and people that are fighting global challenges including probiotics for coral reefs and easy-to-assemble homes for refugees or disaster survivors.
