Learning about the sources of climate change, its possible effects on water supplies, and challenges faced by water resource managers, are the focus of a distance learning class that is part of the EPA's Watershed Academy.

Addressing the concerns of the effects that the apparent change of climatic conditions around the globe are having, the Environmental Protection Agency offers the online training module "Understanding Climate Change Impacts on Water Resources" as part of the organization's Watershed Academy.

This distance learning class is designed to increase a person's understanding of the causes of climate change, its potential impacts on water resources, and the challenges water resource managers are facing. The course contains three parts and is estimated to take about 45 minutes to complete. Optional supplementary information on climate change impacts in the United States is included at the end of the course.

The module contains both audio and video but some features may be unavailable on mobile devices or some web browsers. A transcript of the audio is available at EPA's website. This class is one of the 15 core modules for the Watershed Academy Certificate Program, which recognizes trainees who complete those modules and pass self-tests. No registration, admission or tuition is necessary; the program is open to all and is completely internet-based.

The Watershed Academy provides training and information on implementing watershed approaches through not only the modules but also webcast seminars that feature current information from national experts across a broad range of watershed topics.

Watershed Academy Web is the program's distance learning program, which offers a variety of self-paced training modules that represent a basic and broad introduction to the watershed management field. The modules are organized by six themes: Introductory/Overview, Watershed Ecology, Watershed Change, Analysis and Planning, Management Practices, Community and Social, and Water Law.
