Profile: Celebrating over forty years of service to the profession, the Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects represents more than 450 members and is the eleventh largest Chapter in the Nation. Our practicing and affiliated Chapter members are located throughout Georgia and are associated with one of our four state sections.

 

The 2019 ASLA Southeast Regional Conference was held in Greensville, SC this past June. This year's theme was Leading Transformations. Over 330 attendees and more than 50 vendors convened in Greenville to enjoy educational sessions and discuss key issues in the landscape architecture community while socializing with other industry professionals.

Attendees at this year's Southeast Regional Conference enjoyed a happy hour and welcome reception, field sessions, an awards luncheon, a re-imagined vendor expo, and keynote addresses from leaders in the field such as Jose Alminana, Mikyoung Kim, Diane Jones Allen, and ASLA President Shawn Kelly.

The chapter was well-represented at ASLA Advocacy Day in early May. President Matt Cherry and President-Elect Curt Jackson attended congressional meetings, panel discussions. The GA|ASLA contingent met with Senators David Perdue and Johnny Isakson as well as Representatives John Lewis and Lucy McBath to discuss the importance of funding for transportation projects and the role landscape architects can have in shaping these systems.
