Call for Proposals for 2018 Conference on the Value of Play

The annual Conference on the Value of Play brings together leading play researchers, park and recreation professionals, educators, health scientists, architects, landscape architects, designers, planners, and business and community leaders from across the country. The three-day event includes keynote and featured speakers, PLAYtalks, PLAYinstitutes, a research symposium, educational sessions, roundtables, grant opportunities, networking, and opportunities for play.

The US Play Coalition is now accepting proposals for Educational Sessions, Poster Presentations and the Play Research Symposium for the 2018 Conference on the Value of Play: The Many Faces of Play. The conference, which will be April 8-11, 2018, at Clemson University in South Carolina, will explore play from across the globe and address universal issues of access, accessibility, inclusion and more.

Play Research Symposium sessions will include 15-minute presentations and 15 minutes for questions and answers to provide a scholarly exchange surrounding play. Educational Sessions are 50 minutes long, interactive, and aimed for practitioners to share and discover innovative play strategies and play research.

Theme tracks include: International/Global Play; Multi/Intergenerational & Adults at Play; Accessible & Inclusive Play; Health, Recreation & Play; Nature Based & Outdoor Play; Education & Play; Designing for Play; Emerging Trends in Play; and Nuts & Bolts.

All accepted sessions in the Designing for Play track will be submitted for LA CES and AIA CEU approval.

Those whose presentations are accepted are eligible to apply for research and action grants. A separate application is required.

Proposals will be peer-reviewed using a double blind process. The deadline to submit is Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at 11:59 PM EST.
