SAN DIEGO - The San Diego chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) will be sending Landscape Architects to elementary schools under the Built Environment Education Program (BEEP). BEEP is a program that has been developing over the past 12 years in San Diego.
The program itself teaches elementary students to become more aware of their surroundings and the impact their immediate environment has on their lives. Furthermore it educates students about the importance of responsible design and the relationship between the built environment. "BEEP is a blast, both for Landscape Architects and for the students," said Scott Sandel of Spurlock Poirier, one of the first BEEP volunteers.
The San Diego ASLA is looking for Landscape Architects to go into elementary school classrooms once a week for 8 weeks to help children understand the built environment and the profession of Landscape Architecture.
For more information contact Scott Sandel at (619) 233-3324 or Marnie Griffin of Estrada Land Planning at (619) 236-0143.
