This year, for the first time, ASLA and the role of landscape architects will be featured at X-STEM, an annual symposium created to inspire middle and high school students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. ASLA member and University of Virginia professor Brad Cantrell will represent the profession with a talk on how landscape architects work to combine technology with natural elements. The goal is to garner interest for the landscape architectural profession in the children who attend the symposium.X-STEM, which is presented by USA Science & Engineering Festival, will take place in Washington D.C. on March 19, 2019.
