The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) recently announced a collaboration with the Library of Congress. The partnership would archive the society's Professional Award-winning projects, which marks the first time that collections of landscape architecture projects would be archived by a U.S. federal institution.

 
The Library of Congress archived collections from architecture, design and engineering fields since the 1800s yet, this is the first time that landscape architecture will be archived and added each year.

"This is a step forward in strengthening the connection between landscape architecture and the built environment. The chosen winners are a snapshot of the issues we face in our society each year and how landscape architects are addressing them, which also demonstrates the increasing relevance of landscape architecture to global communities," Torey Carter-Conneen, CEO of ASLA explained.

Some of the library's collections document the history of landscape architecture including the papers of Frederick Law Olmsted and a collection from the landscape architecture firm he founded. History is very rich this year especially as the landscape architecture community celebrates Olmsted200, the 200th birthday celebration of the father of landscape architecture.
