The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) was given two Power of Associations Silver Awards by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) for their ASLA Climate Action Plan and Landscape Architecture is STEM initiatives. The Power of Associations Awards acknowledge associations who have had impactful economic and societal contributions with initiatives that go above and beyond an association's core mission.

 

The ASLA Climate Action Plan was launched in 2022 with the goal to help the profession achieve zero carbon emissions by 2040. This initiative stood out to the ASAE for its comprehensive approach and practical applications.

Landscape Architecture is STEM is another ASLA initiative to help gain recognition for the profession as a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) field. The implications are greater credibility with and exposure to the general public, more funding and research, and more opportunities to speak where landscape architecture should be heard.
