PGASLA's (Prairie Gateway Chapter) 2019 calendar was full of educational, social and advocacy events. Early this fall, PGASLA hosted is first ever Landscape Architecture Site Tour. State Representatives, Kansas City, Missouri City Council members and staffers from Congresswoman Sharice Davids' Kansas City office joined us. We toured several projects in the Crossroads Art District focusing on transportation and green infrastructure projects along with highlighting some long-term visionary projects in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.

One of PGASLA's 2019 goals was to strengthen our chapter relationship with our sole student chapter at Kansas State University. To kick off the school year, PGASLA executive committee traveled to Kansas State University and held a joint chapter meeting, organized a portfolio review session and attended a presentation from KSU Landscape Architect assistant professor Lee Skabeland.

PGASLA continued to host monthly education sessions showcasing product reps and industry leaders. Our social committee was busy organizing regular happy hours and PGASLA member firm events including one at the temporary art putt-putt golf course at Dan Kiley's Nelson Art Museum Sculpture Garden. PGASLA's annual sponsorship appreciation event included a casino night at the Kansas City Center for Architecture and Design.

Advocacy remains a high priority with PGALSA. Members visited both Kansas and Missouri state houses to discuss the importance of Landscape Architecture.

As seen in LASN magazine, December 2019.
