The members and associates of the Ohio Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects believe in leading the design and stewardship of land and communities. Landscape architects lead the stewardship, planning and design of our built and natural environments. The Society's mission is to advance landscape architecture through advocacy, communication, educations, and fellowship.


The 2019 Ohio ASLA Annual Meeting and Expo was held on April 19th at The Exchange in Dublin, Ohio. There was a total of 174 attendees with 27 vendors. The Ohio ASLA hosted 4 incredible speakers; Charles Birnbaum, FASLA of The Cultural Landscape Foundation, Claude Cormier, FSCLA of Claude Cormier + Associ??????(C)s, Virginia Russel, FASLA (University of Cincinnati), Reid Coffman (Kent State University), followed by a tour of the new Bridge Park Development in Dublin, Ohio. A great way for the Landscape Architects of Ohio to earn 6 LACES HSW CEUs.

The 2019 Ohio ASLA Fall Educational and Awards Gala took place on October 18th in Dayton, Ohio. The day began with two educational tours worth 4 LACES HSW CEUs; the Dayton Riverscape guided by Carrie Scarff of Five Rivers Metro Park followed by the University of Dayton Campus. The day ended with the Awards Gala in the historic Grande Hall in Liberty Tower. The chapter received 33 professional submissions and 7 student submissions. The Awards Jury awarded 12 professional and 2 student awards.
In the professional awards categories, Honor Awards went to MKSK for The Ohio State University Mirror Lake Enhancement and to Virginia Burt Designs, Inc. for Morgan's Garden - Landscape Master Plan and Research. Merit Awards were handed out to: Boulevard Studios for Cuyahoga Community College Metro Campus Plaza Improvements, MKSK for Lawrenceburg Civic Park, Columbus Metropolitan Main Library Expansion/Renovation, Canton Centennial Plaza and Quarry Trails Metro Park Master Plan, NBBJ for Seattle Opera at the Center and Nickel Plate Trail Vision Master Plan, Human Nature, Inc. for Art Climb Master Plan, Designing Local for Cape May County Creative Placemaking Plan, and IMPLEMENT for Worthington Residence. In the student awards categories, Merit Awards were bestowed upon Pamela Force, Taylor Shanley, & Theresa Rathslag from The Ohio State University for Waterman Farm Master Plan, and Katherine Kelleher of Kent State University for Bat Camp. Also, a Special Recognition Award was received by Patrick J. Beam.
