2019 Chapter Report

Profile: The Kentucky Chapter seeks to represent and further the aims and policies of the American Society of Landscape Architects as they fall within the domain of the Chapter. Chapter members are those Fellows, Members and Associates of ASLA in good professional standing who are located within the defined territory of the Chapter, the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

The chapter finished off last year with their Annual Holiday Special an Mr. Lee's Cocktail Lounge in Louisville. Also in Louisville, ASLA Kentucky held a joint conference with the National Association for Olmstead Parks, which involved an Opening Reception of the Olmsted Parks exhibit at the Frazier Museum, educational sessions and guided tours of The Parklands of Floyd's Fork; Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest; the Olmsted Parks System including Northwestern and Southwestern Parkways, Shawnee Park, Chickasaw Park, Algonquin Parkway, Southern Parkway, Iroquois Park, Eastern Parkway and Cherokee Park; River Heritage Conservancy and Waterfront Park; some of the neighborhood parks designed and implemented by Olmstead and the Olmstead firm; and residential subdivisions and other non-park sites designed by Olmsted and the firm. The 27th annual Congress for the New Urbanism took place in Louisville on June 12 - 15, 2019 for four days of education, collaboration, discussion, and debate on the policies, designs, and emerging approaches that create great places. And the chapter participated in PARK(ing) Day in Lexington.
