ASLA COVID-19 Update

World Landscape Architecture Month Continues

Originally constructed in 1877 at one of the oldest parks in the U.S., Worcester, Massachusetts' elm park, the "red bridge" was rebuilt several times - the last time in the 1980s before the passage of the American with Disabilities Act. It had again fallen into disrepair and the city hired landscape architects from Beals and Thomas, Inc to oversee the construction of a new replacement - this time eliminating the steep slopes on either side to make it accessible to pedestrians of all abilities.

The American Society of Landscape Architects reports that over 4 million people have viewed the posts created for World Landscape Architecture Month, and reminds that there are still two weeks to contribute.

Also, on Wednesday, April 22, will be the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. ASLA writes, "We are all facing the challenges presented by the ongoing climate crisis. Landscape architects are uniquely suited to addressing these challenges through planning and designing for sustainability and resilience."
