This update was revealed at a recent International Division leadership meeting.

The American Planning Association (APA) has released an International Strategy Update at a recent International Division leadership meeting. The APA board approved this new strategy this past summer to align with APA's overall Strategic Goals. Things like Prioritizing Equity and Reframing the Voice of Planning that are already part of the APA's strategic initiatives are now part of their international goals as well.

This equates to the APA beginning to grow its existing international learning exchange activities as well as leveraging its relationship with other organizations in the Global Planners Network (GPN) in order to meet these initiatives.

The APA still retains consultative status to the U.N., specifically the U.N. Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). They will continue to pursue planning advocacy where possible while partnered with GPN organizations like the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP), and many more.
