A new technological advancement in residential design and construction is being recognized by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) with the potential to have massive consequences within the industry. 3-dimensnional printing is making its way into home building and currently holds the capacity to create small 600 sq. ft. homes. As the technology improves, NAHB has identified several factors that can improve with the integration of 3D printing. Those factors being: affordability, sustainability, design, and delays.

Additionally, the choice of potential building materials can lead greener alternatives that are more environment friendly resulting in a more sustainable structure. The precision of 3D printing also allows for greater design flexibility, and the time required to print a house is considerable quicker and less weather dependent than building one.
