In 2016, the Boston Society of Landscape Architects saw the much-too-soon passing of Lynn Wolff, FALSA, principal and founder of Copley-Wolff Design Group. As a past Boston Society of Landscape Architects president and trustee, Lynn was well known and revered within the landscape architectural community in Boston and across the nation. Her passion for building community and advancing the public realm became her firm's trademark.

In an effort to continue Lynn's work and pay tribute to her years of advancing the public realm, the BSLA established a new tax-exempt foundation to manage the Lynn Wolff Fund called the BSLA Fund. The Lynn Wolff Fund will support projects that continue Lynn's work building community. The fund is well on its way to achieving its inaugural fundraising goal of $100,000.

In addition to the Lynn Wolff Fund, the BSLA Fund will manage the chapter's scholarship program. In 2016 the program grew to become one of the nation's largest scholarship programs, awarding over $12,000 annually to university students. The BSLA recognizes a greater need exists, thus ambitious efforts are currently underway to establish a $1,000,000 endowment to fund additional scholarships to student ASLA members.

Along with the important work of continuing Lynn Wolff's mission and awarding scholarships to deserving student ASLA members, the BSLA took part in a variety of activities and events aimed at the advancement of its members and the green industry as a whole. Beginning with a full-day BSLA Conference and Xpo in the Srping, the BSLA hosted its Annual Celebration Gala and Awards Ceremony as well as the President's Breakfast for practice leaders. In 2016 the association welcomed three new FASLA's, Todd Richardson, Tom Doolittle and Paula Cortes.

The BSLA had a busy and productive 2016. Thanks to the Executive Committee and Path Leaders it continues to support the success of its members and fellow landscape architects in Massachusetts and Maine.

As seen in LASN magazine, December 2016.
