PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Blunt Broom Sedge is a 2' to 3' tall native perennial member of the sedge family with flowering stems terminating in 5 to 10 small, mostly overlapping, spikelets or seed heads. The flowering period is late spring to mid-summer and the plant requires moist to wet soils in full sun or part shade. This plant is found in ditches, wet fields, swamps, and around the edges of streams, ponds, and springs. Sedges are wind pollinated; however, they are important to various types of insects as forage and host plants. The seeds are important to waterfowl and the plants are valuable to animals like muskrats, beaver, and turtles.
