The Pharaohs of ancient Egypt ordered obelisks made; the Romans replicated them; and the world adopted them. Most of the Egyptian obelisks were transported elsewhere, such as the red granite obelisk at Place de la Concorde that once marked the entrance to the Luxor Temple in Egypt 3,300 years ago! The Luxor obelisk is 23 meters talls and weighs 250 tons. Imagine transporting that!
