The 46th Western Landscape and Equipment Expo SCTC Show was held in November at the Pomona Fairplex in Southern California. Specifically aimed at turfgrass and landscape professionals, this show is the premier show in the western United States. Attended by over 2000 landscape superintendents, golf course superintendents, landscape contractors, landscape design professionals, pest control professionals and lawn care professionals, the events and speakers were a big draw. However, in addition, the show featured a commercial truck showroom, and outdoor barbecue, an ongoing live radio broadcast hosted by Nick Federoff, and indoor pitching mound, a baseball sports card show and display, along with live music and a Wi-Fi Hotspot. A broad range of speakers covered subjects such as Athletic Field Management by Stephen Cockerham, Tree care in the Landscape by Fred Roth, AB2717: Irrigation Transformation by Tom Ash, Legalization and Immigration issues by Kevin Tracey and Patrick Jeanette, Use of Compost in the Landscape by Janet Hartin, CLCA Taskforce on Illegal Workers, New Warm Season Turfgrass by Mike Henry, Job Site Safety Training by James Lipot, A-Biotic Damage by Mike Henry, Water Quality Issues by Dr. Sowmya Mitra and Race Track Turf for the Equine Athlete by Leif Dickinson.
