WPRA Hands Out Park Awards

GREENDALE, Wis. - The Wisconsin Park and Recreation Association (WPRA) met to decide outstanding park projects in Park Facility, Park Area Use and Park categories. Each winner of the three categories received The Award of Excellence.

Ashwaubenon Sports Complex won the award for Park Facility. The complex is 43 acres in size and contains four softball fields, two full size soccer fields, six tennis courts, two basketball courts, playground equipment, extensive parking lots, a plaza area equipped with a fountain and the Cornerstone Community Ice Center.

The Park Area Use award was given to the Lincoln Park Zoo Educational Exhibits/Creek/Pond. The project created three new educational opportunities for visitors.

The Research Conservation Wing at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary was given their award for Park Area Use. The facility has six large exhibits (boa constrictor, fruit bat, forest songbirds, field songbirds, beach songbirds and freshwater aquarium) and a hands-on live animal "Critter Counter."
