Landscaping is an industry many might believe to have an excess of workers, but with Arizona's unemployment now at 9.7 percent, Glenn and his wife figured it would be easy to hire a few new experienced people.
"We really anticipated almost having the pick of anyone we needed because of unemployment. I'm a little surprised,” Fahringer admitted. “I don't know why we're not getting more applicants talking to us."
The whole situation is frustrating. The last few times Earth Care looked for people to work with their Cave Creek location they hired not one employee.
The more shovels Earth Care can put back into the hands of employees, the better it is for everyone. The company gets the help they need, and it also puts people back to work in the local community.
Earth Care has more than a dozen landscapers currently working to beautify customer's property, but the longer they go without a full workforce, the more it hurts them financially.
"That means keeping our doors open for one thing, and that means being a benefit to the community for another," Fahringer said.
