ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - The Western Nursery and Landscape Association's Annual Convention and Trade Show rolls into Kansas City, Mo., on Jan. 5-7, 2003. The Western is building on its reputation as one of the fastest growing trade show around by continuing its efforts to provide excellent speakers and educational sessions. Two speakers that Landscape Contractors may be interested in are: ?EUR??,,????'???? Pam Duthie, owner of The Gifted Gardner, a landscape design and consulting firm specializing in perennial gardens in Northbrook, Ill., will share her methods for "Designing for Continuous Bloom" and creating "A Garden for All Seasons." An authority on perennial gardening and design, Pam has been featured in the Chicago Tribune, Sun-Times, and other newspapers across the country. John Ball, Dept. of Horticulture, Forestry, Landscape and Parks at South Dakota University, will offer tips on transplanting large trees. John received his PhD in Forest Entomology from Michigan State University in 1982 and currently teaches horticulture courses ranging from Landscape Maintenance and Nursery Management to Greenhouse and Nursery Crops and Arboriculture. Some of his main areas of emphasis include the influence of tree cover on residential heating and cooling costs and the competitive relationships between ornamental trees and turf grasses.
