Winona Lake Limitless Park by Jones Petrie Rafinski
Winona Lake Limitless Park is a universally accessible playground that allows everyone in the community - no matter their age or ability - to join together in play. It's a place that embraces the beauty of the surrounding environment and engages everyone in "limitless" play. Extending beyond current ADA requirements, the park features a recirculating splash pad, accessible playground, natural play elements, areas for respite, and a fully accessible restroom building. It also incorporates unique elements including an expression swing allowing toddlers and parents to swing together, crawl tunnels, climbing experiences, a water tunnel, and areas for shaded play and seating. The JPR team, making sure they met the needs of the community, worked alongside caretakers, physical and occupational therapists, teachers, and parents to gain valuable input during the design of the project. This process helped the team infuse therapeutic aspects into an array of playground components, providing ample opportunities for visitors that may have physical and cognitive challenges. In addition, sensory play is encouraged throughout the park and includes elements such as musical boards and balance beams.
