Carrier Park is designed to be an all-inclusive, outdoor, multi-sport complex to be enjoyed by local residents and visitors of Central New York. The park is specifically designed to accommodate children and adults with mental and physical disabilities. The park will be home to Challenger baseball, various youth leagues, and Special Olympics programs. The park includes two baseball fields with synthetic turf infields; an all-inclusive, ADA-accessible playground; three basketball courts; a Gateway Building with concessions, outdoor seating/dining areas, restrooms, and meeting space; parking; and green infrastructure to aid in storm water management. The second phase of implementation was completed in 2021. Subsequent phases outlined in the master plan include a pavilion, press box, additional baseball fields, a multi-sport synthetic turf field, bleacher seating, sports field lighting, and expanded ADA-accessible walking trails.
