Cosmos are a calming view for drivers along the highways of northern Indiana.

Drivers along the northern Indiana (Marshall Co.) highways are surprised to see ?EUR??,,????'??wildflowers.?EUR??,,????'?? The white, purple and pink cosmos are nursery grown and the result of the Indiana DOT wildflower program. LaPorte District landscape architect Cindee McKie likes the color and what they replaced?EUR??,,????'??+weeds and high grasses that required mowing. The annuals, which will reseed for a few years, are seeded with native perennials (purple coneflowers, black-eyed Susans and coreopsis) that will start blossoming next year. InDOT will collect these seeds for sowing once the plants get established.
