Whirlwind Year Ahead St. Louis Chapter busy with plans for 2000 Conference St. Louis, Mo The calendar for the year 1999 was filled with activities and events for the St. Louis Chapter of the ASLA. But, with the 2000 Annual ASLA Conference and Expo scheduled to take place in St. Louis, the upcoming year is sure to be a whirlwind for Chapter members. Current chapter president for 1999 - 2000 is Russell G. Volmert, ASLA. In 1999, the St. Louis Chapter honored Quail Ridge Park in St. Charles, Missouri, as part of the 100 Years / 100 Parks Centennial Celebration. The Chapter Design Awards were held on December 5, 1999 at their annual Holiday Party. The party was hosted at the Piper Palm House in Tower Grove Park, which is the largest and oldest Victorian park in the United States. Currently, the chapter is working in conjunction with the Prairie Gateway Chapter to upgrade Missouri licensing legislation to acknowledge Landscape Architecture as a practice license instead of the current title license.
