The winter was a record-breaking brute. Spring started off wet and in some places, snowy. Snow continued to fall into late spring and deadly tornadoes have already assaulted the continent. El Nino is given an 80 percent chance of further disrupting our weather later. Summer is here but at what price? Heat, according to the Farmers' Almanac, which is now predicting an exceptionally hot summer across much of North America with oppressive humidity throughout the eastern half of the U.S. Forecasted to be slow to arrive, but engulfing upon arrival, the hot weather is expected to spread throughout the Southwest, Northern, Central and Southern Plains with only the Pacific Northwest given a chance for a hospitable season. In spite of the increase in rainfall that typically accompanies El Nino, which is given a 70 percent chance of visiting this summer, the Farmers' Almanac is forecasting drier than normal conditions in the Western states and near-normal ones in the central part of the nation. But east of the Mississippi will be wetter than normal, fueling the humidity, if predictions hold true. North of the border gets to hear a similar version – the Prairies will experience a warm-to-hot summer while Ontario eastward will be humid. Can't wait.
