KALAMAZOO-Two members of the landscape services of Western Michigan University (WMU), John Disbro, arborist, and Paul MacNellis, director, have received the 2003 Staff Service Excellence award, which comes with a $1,000 prize and a framed certificate. Mr. Disbro is a certified arborist and has been at WMU since 1986. His bachelor's degree is in horticulture from Purdue University. His nominators praised his design talents, hard work, knowledge, and volunteer work. Mr. MacNellis, who has been with the university since 1968, is on active duty in the National Guard. MacNellis is known for his dedication to the efficiency and beauty of the campus. He favors plantings that are natural to the Michigan landscape.
