Welcome To 2026!

January 2026 Destinations Issue Commentary
by George Schmok, Publisher

Ok . . . It's a few weeks into the year already, so the Happy New Year greeting is probably getting a bit old but . . . Welcome to 2026!

For LASN, 2025 was another banner year, as we passed 19,150 PLAs receiving the publication in the mail. That's almost 4X the association's distribution! Maybe that's why LASN's annual page and ad counts both grew last year . . . And this issue is ahead of last year, so we're off to another good start!

In 2025, hundreds of firms submitted projects for feature articles, of which we published more than 80 in the magazine and virtually all the rest were featured at LandscapeArchitect.com (LA.com).

Of course, you know this because you have LandscapeArchitect.com bookmarked . . . Right? What?!? You haven't bookmarked, and you don't look at LA.com every day? Well . . . If you're a PLA or a Land Development professional, you should. The website gets more than 120,000 page views every month and is literally "All Things for Landscape Architects!"

At LandscapeArchitect.com, you'll find project reviews, legislation news, association news, events, webinars, and so much more, including more than 450 National Vendors and 4,000 Regional Suppliers, with 30,000 Product Pics and thousands of downloadable CAD files.

You can also reach out with a direct email to each and every one of the vendors individually. Just click on the "Contact Company" tab, type away, hit send, and your query will go directly to that vendor.

New for 2026 . . . In this issue, you will find a couple of new things. For one, as you requested in the annual survey, we are trying to include more Details. We're still trying to work out how to include the details of the details with the limited space a magazine gives you, but we should be able to work this out over the next few issues. Let us know what you think!

Speaking of letting us know . . . There's a new section called The LASN Town Hall in which we let you speak about the profession. Turn to page 10 to check it out. There are a few prompts to get the conversation started, but we like hearing from all corners of the profession, so feel free to reach out as often as you'd like about any subject you think is relevant.

So again . . . Welcome to 2026! We (and you) should expect this year to be even better than the last! With that, we look forward to your continued readership and comments in the months and
years ahead.

- God Bless!
