Weinberg To Become Dean of UGA College of Environment & Design

Scott Weinberg, associate dean of the University of Georgia College of Environment and Design, has recently been appointed Interim Dean of the college.

A faculty member in the School of Environmental Design since 1982, Weinberg has served since 1995 as director of resident instruction. ?????EUR??,,?EUR He has also been director of facilities and internship coordinator for the environmental design school.

?EUR??,,????'??Scott?EUR??,,????'???s extensive administrative experience in the college, and his outstanding achievements as a teacher, scholar and leader in his professional field, make him well qualified to serve as interim dean,?EUR??,,????'?? said Arnett C. Mace, senior vice president for academic affairs and provost of UGA. ?EUR??,,????'??I?EUR??,,????'???m confident he will provide the college with excellent leadership as it continues to grow and advance during this transition period.?EUR??,,????'??

Weinberg is an authority on landscape planning and design and is internationally known for his research on computer applications for landscape architects. ?????EUR??,,?EUR He is also a specialist in environmental quality and has created a system, adopted by many small cities, that helps maintain aesthetic quality while allowing for private development.

He is author of a book and co-editor of two books on landscape architecture and has written numerous articles and made scores of presentations on aspects of landscape architecture. ?????EUR??,,?EUR He has been a consultant to more than 35 cities, agencies and organizations on landscape design and master plans.

The recipient of numerous awards for outstanding teaching, Weinberg has been honored by the American Society of Landscape Architects and its Georgia chapter for his research and has twice received the Distinguished Faculty Award from the School of Environmental Design Alumni Association. ?????EUR??,,?EUR He is a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects and has been president of the society?EUR??,,????'???s Georgia chapter as well as national vice president of Sigma Lambda Alpha honor society for landscape architects.
