Despite claims by critics that water use on turf is wasteful and that 50% of the outdoor water supply is used on grass, the Turf Resource Center reports that only one percent of U.S. surface and groundwater is for domestic use. Of that amount, one-third is utilized for outside purposes, which includes swimming pool use and watering greens.
