Water Restrictions Lifted

Residents in Wyckoff and Midland Park, New Jersey can now water their lawns whenever they want. Drought conditions that left Wyckoff municipal lawns brown in August have abated, leading to the lifting of water restrictions.

The Ridgewood Water Co. lifted its Stage III restrictions for its customers on Friday, October 1. The system limited residents' lawn and garden watering to alternate days and times.

The restrictions went into effect in July to ensure that the water company had enough reserves, David Schiebner, Ridgewood Water's business manager, said in an interview Monday, October 4, 2010. Schiebner said that the company annually imposes a mandatory Stage I restriction on customers from May 1 to September 30, limiting their watering time to alternate days.
