Landscape Subcommittee Meets

SACRAMENTO, CA

The landscape subcommittee of the California Urban Water Conservation Council recently met to determine how local agencies could use California Irrigation Management Information System (CIMIS) data to help implement the landscape irrigation Best Management Practices. The subcommittee was briefed on siting criteria, and was consequently informed that 80 percent of the current urban CIMIS stations meet the Department of Water Regulation's (DWR) siting criteria.

DWR will enhance its computer system and web site to display normal year evapotranspiration data and current CIMIS data by zip codes-- all which can be accessed by landscape irrigation designers, builders and managers. In addition, the Council will work toward additional data needs and contractors with the University of California and other organizations to deal with adjusting evapotranspiration rates for microclimates.
